As shown by Charles Schulz, Tom Gauld and Jeff Kinney, simple, black-and-white cartoons never cease to be endearing. Pop Rob's gathering of birds charmed my feathers off, not only because each bird is unique and lovable, but because this doodle shows how the simple building blocks of visual language - the dot, line and circle - can be used to create a mini-masterpiece.
